Update to Julep

I wanted to do an update to the Julep post yesterday. There were a couple of things I forgot to mention.

First, if you fill out your "Beauty Bio" you get a coupon to get 50% off one nail polish. I used the coupon on Cassie.

I really like this color. It's a soft coral color that I can wear in uniform which is nice. The downside is that it took 3 coats for it to be opaque, but after looking at the website it seems this is supposed to be a sheer color. I just didn't like the way it looked sheer.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that when you purchase a box, you can get any of the colors from the other boxes as a $5 add on instead of the usual $11.20 price.

My friend already purchased her box. Have you gotten yours? Use this link and code FREEBOX to get your first box free (just pay shipping).

Julep

Company: Julep
Price: $19.99 a month
Description: Julep is a nail polish subscription company that will send you 2 polishes and a beauty product once a month with the option to pick which box they send as well as the option to skip between the 20th and 24th of each month. Total value is supposed to be at least $40.

The first thing Julep will have you do is to take a "style profile". When I took it, my profile came out to be "Boho Glam" described as a "dynamic free spirit with a creative eye." I guess that fits, but I'm not sure that's what I would've picked. Ultimately, I liked the colors more than I liked the colors from any other box so I went with it. That's definitely one perk of their business model, the ability to switch boxes if you don't like the one from you style profile.

I received Clara (an opaque peach cream) and Gabrielle (a smoky mulberry creme) as my colors and the Julep Essential Cuticle Oil.

The good: I was impressed that it only took one coat to put on Gabrielle and I really loved the inky, soft purple color. I wish I could wear it to work, but unfortunately it wouldn't be within military regs. This was definitely the winner in the box.

The bad: It took two coats to put on Clara and I didn't think the peach looked good with my fair skin. Overall with both bottles, I thought the bottles were small for the price, and that the bottles were too long. It meant that a lot of nail polish collected on the brush, and I had to make sure to clean most of it off before applying so I didn't get a huge messy amount on my nails.

The meh: The cuticle oil was nice, but I cant see myself using it everyday. I do like the fact that it came on a roller so it was easy to apply. I wish I'd have gotten one of the other products that came in the other boxes (like the Glycolic Hand Scrub), but like I said, I liked the colors in this box more than the other boxes.

I decided to skip the month of August. I liked one of the colors from the Boho Glam box and one of the colors from one of the other boxes, but I wasn't interested in the "Double Step Foot Treatment" that came in both of those boxes. From glancing on the Julep Facebook page, it looks like the boxes also came with seeds for "Forget Me Not" flowers. Cute idea since the theme of the boxes was garden party, but as someone stated on the page, it's the wrong season for "Forget Me Nots".

We'll see what next month holds but I'm certainly not cancelling my membership. Especially since they're not going to charge me unless I want them to.

Did I mention you can get your first month free? Just pay shipping. Sign up here and use code FREEBOX.

JustFab

Company: JustFab

Price: $39.95 a month

Description: JustFab is a shoe/bag club that adds new selections monthly. They do charge monthly but they will give you a credit that you can use on any of their products. They also give you the opportunity to "skip the month" by logging on to their website between the 1st and 5th of the month and hitting the "skip" button. They also carry denim and accessories.

JustFab is one of my favorite shoe companies. I am a JustFab Brand Ambassador and have been a member for years. I love their products (most of the time) and appreciate how well they treat their loyal customers. Recently they ran a number of sales and I took advantage quite a bit. For this post, I'll focus on the bags that I purchased, and then I'll do the shoes in the near future.

I'll start with Petite Icon (no longer available).

SAMSUNG

This is by far one of the best bags I've ever received from them. It's structured, it's the perfect size, it looks way more expensive than it was, and best of all, it's perfect for work.

Next we have Midtown.

SAMSUNG

Another bag that looks more expensive than it is. It's again, a great size. The color is a very deep green that almost looks black.  It will be a great versatile bag, especially in the fall. I love that you can use it with the zippers up or down. I've seen this style pop up in lots of designer bags and I'm happy that I got this one at such a deal! I would buy it in white if it came back in stock.

Moving on to Gallivant.

SAMSUNG

I bought this bag in the $5 add on sale and figured if I didn't like it, I could always gift it. I still haven't quite decided if I want to let it go. It's a lot slouchier than it looked on the website, but I love the option of using the top handle or the side handles. Even if I would probably never use the side handles, I like the thought that they put into it. It's bigger than my other bags but not so big that it's overwhelming.

And now we'll look at Fresca.

SAMSUNG SAMSUNG

I bought Fresca as a $5 add on because I'm always looking for good clutches, especially that are more formal looking that I can use for events. I'm not sure if this one fit the bill but I still really like it and may use it as a more casual bag. It's a bigger clutch so it has no problem fitting all the essentials. One great little surprise about this bag is that it has a wristlet strap inside that has a snap to keep it inside if you don't want to use it. Again, I'm not sure if I'd ever use the wristlet strap but I love the thought put into it.

Next we have Laurent.

SAMSUNG

This bag was a pleasant surprise. It's so bright and vibrant. It's a shape I didn't have and it's a good size. The material is one I hadn't seen before. It's got textured horizontal lines across the material which adds a nice detail.  It's got an optional shoulder strap so you don't have to carry it as a satchel.

Next we have Savant.

SAMSUNG SAMSUNG

Savant was kind of a disappointment in some respects but a pleasant surprise in others. I wanted it for a laptop bag but it is too small for that. Also, the material looks a bit cheap, but that doesn't really bother me. What I love is the little pouch inside that is removable. If it were just a bit bigger (or my laptop was a bit smaller) it would've been perfect for a laptop bag. Put the laptop in the main compartment and all the accessories (power cord, mouse, etc) in the pouch. Oh, well. I'm sure I'll find another use for it.

Now onto Tryst.

SAMSUNG

Tryst is such a cute little clutch. It's really not big enough for anything but the basics, but it looks pretty high quality. I love the wooden toggle clasp. There's also some stud detailing on the handle that wasn't in the JF pictures, but I like it. It gives it a slight edge to go along with the bright pink.

Lastly we have Dominate.

SAMSUNG

This is a sassy little bag. It's a very bright red, that is great for a statement. I love the studs around the pocket. It's quite a bit smaller than expected, but I prefer smaller bags. I love that it's structured. Not a fan of the satchel style but I can make it work.

I absolutely love JustFab and as you can see they have amazing sales. I didn't pay more than $20 for any of these bags and some of them look like they cost more than $100. If you're interested in joining JustFab, use this link and you should get 50% off your first item.

FabKids

Company: FabKids
Price: $39.95/mo.
Description: FabKids is a sub-company of JustFab. They currently only sell outfits for girls, but will be offering outfits for boys starting in August. They sell their clothing in pre-chosen outfits or give you the option to buy each piece individually.

For my first post, I thought it would be good to start out with the latest company I've tried out.  I love JustFab and always get excited when they branch out into different areas. I signed up my niece Ainsley for FabKids after they offered me my first outfit free. I let Ainsley pick out her outfit. She picked out this gingham dress.

SAMSUNG

The dress came with a cute pair of yellow shorts called "playground shorts" and the yellow bow in her hair.

It fit well. The straps were adjustable and it was long enough so she should be able to wear it for awhile. She can wear it with the straps crossed in the back or straight. In the front the strap is cinched through the material like a pillowcase dress. She normally wears an 8 and we ordered her a L (8-10) to make sure the length was long enough since she is tall. She normally wears dresses at the knees. This one fell about an inch below the knee.

Ainsley's review: She liked that the color was more pink than red and that the material was soft.

Overall, the outfit is good quality, but I'm not sure about the $39.95 price point. Maybe if they added a pair of shoes to the outfit. I will likely be skipping the month until they have a sale.

If you are interested in FabKids, use this link and you will get 50% off your first outfit.

Update: Ainsley has a hard time getting it over her head without help because of the cross-straps. That makes a difference because Ainsley likes to dress herself (as most 7 year olds do).
