What I Wore To Church - Dotted Pencil Skirt and Boots

Shirt: Sweet Salt Boutique Classic Ultimate Scoop Tee
Skirt: ThredUp (LOFT)
Boots: JustFab Sayana

Well we had a much easier morning this morning than last Sunday. My outfit came together without having to try on anything more than once, and I had no problem styling something to go with the style prompt from the Style Me November Style Challenge. (The prompt was "Boots Made For Walking")

I've had a hard time in the past finding a pair of black tall boots I was happy with. I have about 50 billion (number estimated) pairs of brown boots, but black boots that I like have always been harder to come by. I bought and sent back at least 3 pairs from JustFab for various reasons (too tall, too pointy, too narrow) before I found these. I like the detailing on them and the wide shorter heel. Downside: they aren't the most comfortable things ever, but I'm guessing I can put an insole in them to make them better. Regardless, I liked the way they look and I thought they went well with the outfit.

I think boots and pencil skirts is a fairly classic look, and I love adding some fun tights to the mix. The rule I follow for boots and skirts is that there should be some leg showing, even if it's just a bit, especially if you are wearing tights. They add to the look so they should be seen!

This fantastic LOFT skirt was another ThredUp find (did you have any doubt?)! I love the black on white dots and the cute bow detailing. It did most of the styling for me so I didn't have to add much. Just a simple tee, cardigan, and statement necklace! Such a classy look without much effort. That's my kind of style.

If you've never shopped with ThredUp before, use my link and get $10 off your first purchase. I also have a couple of 30% off coupons for first time shoppers. Just let me know, and I'll send them out!

If you're interested in shopping with JustFab, use my link and get 20% off your first order. They are having a sale on their fuzzy boots (Ugg-like). They are $19.95 a pair if you order a full price item. Standard disclaimer: they are a shoe club, so be sure to read the terms and conditions about monthly charges and skipping.

What I Wore To Church - Autumnal Plaid Dress

Dress: ModCloth About the Artist Dress in Autumnal Plaid
Scarf: WalMart
Tights: ModCloth Layer It On Tights in Light Grey
Shoes: ModCloth Dynamic Debut Heel in Navy
Belt: Target (Merona)

It was a bit blustery out there today so I decided layers would be a good idea. I always have fun styling with layers because you have to get creative with what coordinates and what doesn't. I opted to ditch my signature cardigan and replace it with a long sleeve tee. The cardigan would've looked fine (I probably would've done navy if you're wondering), but I like to switch it up every now and then.

I had been drooling over this ModCloth dress for weeks, and they were teasing me with a "coming soon" label under it. It FINALLY came in stock and lucky for me, I had a $15 credit and a 20% off code. The stars aligned and the dress was mine. I absolutely adore plaid and this color scheme was just too perfect.

I tried a couple different things, but settled on the scarf and belt with confirmation from my mom that it wasn't too much mustard. Since I have an obsession with mustard, I tend to go a bit overboard with it, and I need to be reeled in occasionally. This time I think it was just the right amount.

The tights were an add on to a previous ModCloth order so I could get free shipping (I hate paying shipping!), and I knew it wouldn't take me too long to find something to wear them with. Colored tights (yes grey is a color) are one of my favorite accessories. They add fun detail to an outfit and keep you warm at the same time!

The shoes are another ModCloth fave. I'm still debating if I need them in burgundy too. The thick heel makes them easy to walk in despite their 4 inch height, and the cut out details paired with the t-strap is just too much cute in one shoe!

Overall I thought it made a great fall outfit and I'm glad the weather is finally cooperating so I can work with layers. I didn't mean to be a walking advertisement for ModCloth, but sometimes it turns out that way.

If you haven't purchased from ModCloth before, use my link and get $15 off $50! (No this is not a sponsored post, but I do get $15 referral credit if you sign up. It's appreciated so I can continue my addiction!)

What I Wore To Church - Navy Colorblock Dress and Mustard Tights

Tights: Merona Women's Opaque Tights (Target)
Shoes: Qupid Suede Bow Mary Jane (UrbanOG)

I have another dress from eShakti to feature today. I got this one a couple weeks ago, but was waiting to wear it because I had a specific pairing in mind, but didn't have all the pieces yet. When I bought it, I had the idea that I wanted to try out the bright tights trend. With the dark colors and classic shape of the dress, it was perfect to let the tights take center stage. The tights were easier to find than I thought they would be. I was pleased that they weren't that expensive either. Props to Target! They had a very large selection of colors, and I was so happy to find them in mustard. You may already know my obsession with the navy and mustard pairing, as can be seen here, here, here, and here

Once I found the tights, I knew I had to find the right shoes. They needed to be plain black to avoid overdoing it with color or prints, and I love mary janes with bright tights because the straps stand out so well. The lace bow on these adorable shoes added that last bit of cute oomph to the outfit.

I know I say it practically every week, but I can't get enough of eShakti. They have some fun prints and shapes, but they also have retro classics like this one. They can be worn as is with classic accessories, or they can be jazzed up with colorful cardigans, tights, or shoes. I love dresses that have options, and this one has lots. I think next time I wear it, I'll try it with red accents. eShakti is doing another Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale. Their winter clearance is also still available, but the offers can't be combined. Be sure to check it out and pick up something fun, or something classic.

What I Wore to Church - Sequins and Sparkles

Dress: eShakti Sequin Chiffon Print Dress
Cardigan: Tilly's Essential Elbow Sleeve Cardigan (no longer available in navy)
Shoes: Frederick's of Hollywood

Since I didn't get a chance to go to a New Year's Eve party, I thought I'd pizzazz it up for the first Sunday of the year. I thought sequins and sparkles were appropriate.

The dress is (of course) eShakti. I got it in the overstock section for a steal, and it's so much fun! It's flowy, it's sparkly, and it's festive (and pockets! How many fancy dresses have pockets?). Right now it's sold out, but give it time. It'll be back in stock before you know it.  eShakti is currently finishing out their 50% off sale. Today is the last day, and it's totally worth a look-see. I hope you all don't mind reading about eShakti because thanks to referrals (I can't thank you enough, for serious), I have a couple more dresses and skirts to feature on the blog!

The shoes were from a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure I got them for about $15 at an after NYE sale at Frederick's. I don't think I've ever actually walked into one of their stores, but I do love browsing the shoes on their website. This is actually the first time I've worn them. I've never had a fancy enough outfit to pair them with. I thought the sequins on the shoes went great with the sequins on the dress.

I also added another layer of fancy to the outfit with the accessories (please excuse what Kyle is calling my "senior photo" pose. It was the only way I could get all the accessories in). I loved the idea of a fascinator to add that retro glam feel to the hair style. It took me 30 min of playing with different hair styles to come up with this, and once I did it, I totally face palmed. It was so simple yet it worked so well.

Hopefully you got to wear something fun for the new year, whether on NYE or today. Everyone deserves the chance to feel glamorous at least once a year. I also hope your year is full of sparkles, and rainbows, and puppies.

What I Wore To Church - Candy Dot Skirt and Fun Tights

Skirt: eShakti Button Front Candy Dot Skirt
Shirt: Express
Cardigan: Old Navy Button Front V-Neck Cardi (no longer available)
Tights: Old Navy Chevron Textured Tights (no longer available)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Devin
Bag: JustFab Parisian

And eShakti is back on my blog! I got this skirt with some of the referral gift cards I received from eShakti (thank you to all who used my code!!). I think it's adorable. It's got stretchy smocking in the back so it's bump friendly, and I love the buttons down the front. The dots come in multiple colors so you can match it with quite a lot.

I matched the green in the skirt to my cardigan and tights for a little Christmas fun (I told you I could come up with something festive this week!). I got both the cardigan and tights for half off on black Friday. I was going to try to wear a red cardigan, but decided it looked too "Santa's elf", so I incorporated red with my nails and the bag.

I got JustFab's Celine-inspired Parisian in the clearance section for $15. It's quite a bit bigger than bags I usually carry, but it's gorgeous! It worked well to fit all my church stuff. My only complaint is that it's definitely a "crook of the arm" bag which means you can't weigh it down with too much stuff.

The shoes weren't the actual ones I wore to church, but they are the ones I had picked out for the outfit before Alabama decided to rain on my parade (literally).  I wore patent leather black heels instead, but I like the look of these better. I got them in a Street Moda sale a few months back for less than $20. I think I pulled off a pretty festive look without taking it overboard. Kyle's final verdict was that I looked very "school teacher-ish". I'm ok with that.

For those interested, eShakti is doing a winter clearance sale here or they are doing buy 2 get 1 free on all of their full price items. You can use my referral code (ELIZABETH92SP) for $30 off your first purchase until 31 December!

Until next week, Happy Shopping and Merry Christmas!

What I Wore To Church - Pencil Skirt and Blouse

pencil skirt and blouse 3pencil skirt and blouse 2pencil skirt and blouse 1

Sweater: American Eagle
Shirt: Zulily
Skirt: H&M MAMA Pencil Skirt
Shoes: Iron Fist Indecent Obsession

Since it's been rainy and chilly today, I decided to dress a bit warmer. My signature look used to be a pencil skirt and a blouse with tights and heels, but once the belly started showing, none of my pencil skirts would work. So, I was delighted to find this one at H&M in their maternity line. It worked out even better than expected because I bought it on Cyber Monday for 40% off.  It's nice and stretchy and should fit through the whole pregnancy.

I bought the blouse on Zulily awhile back and was saving it for when I got a bit bigger. Well that time has arrived, and I thought it went well with my pencil skirt. I bought the cardigan years ago, but pull it out every so often when I need a warmer layer. It was nice that it complimented the tights too.

The shoes (quite accurately named Indecent Obsession) I bought from Iron Fist directly probably a year ago, but could never find quite the right outfit for them. Well they are just too darn pretty to be kept on the shelf, so I was super happy to finally be able to wear them. They didn't match the blouse perfectly, but they were far enough away from it that it didn't matter. I love how stinking cute they are. Strawberries, roses, polka dots, and bows, in mary jane form. What more could you ask for? They may be too much for some, but I absolutely love them.

I'm so happy to be able to reclaim my signature style, and I'm sure this pencil skirt will get a lot of use. A pencil skirt is the closet staple that I most suggest everyone have. It's flattering on almost everyone if you get it to fit right, and it can be worn with so much. It always looks super classy and gives you a pulled together look without much effort. If you don't have one, I suggest you start the hunt to find a good one.

Weekend in Florida - Playing with Prints and Colors

I spent the weekend down in Florida celebrating Thanksgiving and attending my niece's baptism. Due to travelling, I didn't go to church, but never fear! I still got a few cute outfits in.

We'll start with my travelling outfit.

leopard printJeans: Old Navy Maternity
Shirt: Gap Maternity
Sweater: American Eagle
Scarf: Modadorn Leopard Print Infinity Scarf
Shoes: b.o.c. Xia

I thought this was a simple, comfortable, yet cute outfit for the drive. I've been playing around more with leopard, and this was a fun way to incorporate it without overpowering the outfit. I got the scarf as a secret santa gift from a friend and absolutely love it! It's soft and warm, while adding that fun detailing to an otherwise plain outfit. I thought the matching flats pulled the outfit together nicely.

Dress: Modcloth Fashionable Flock Dress
Cardigan: Old Navy Crew-Neck Cardi (no longer available in red)
Boots: JustFab Wilma

I guess there's no hiding the baby bump now. This was the outfit I wore to the baptism. I enjoy pairing blue and red without making it look overly patriotic (unless that's what you're going for), and I felt the black cami, black tights, and grey boots (that you've now seen me wear 2 weeks in a row) helped in that aspect.  I've mentioned before, I love bird print, and here's just another example. I bought the dress a couple years ago and absolutely adore it. I can never have enough birds on my clothing.

Jeans: Old Navy Maternity
Boots: JustFab Nabila

I know you were waiting for navy and mustard to make an appearance since it seems to be my current favorite color combo. I try not to disappoint. I wore this outfit while running around and sight seeing. We went to the Naval Aviation Museum, to the Pensacola Lighthouse, and to the beach. While we were at the museum, we also took family pictures, so I wanted to make sure the outfit was comfortable, but also cute. I convinced quite a few family members to wear mustard in some form for the pictures, and I thought they turned out pretty good. It's such a great color to make pictures pop.

As you can see, I'm definitely embracing the maternity clothing more, but any of these outfits can be recreated with items you probably already have in your closet. I'm trying to only buy closet basics in maternity (with one or two fun pieces) and dress them up with accessories, fun sweaters, and of course shoes. Hopefully it'll save me a bit of money while still letting me keep my fun style. We'll see if I can keep it up.

Surprisingly I created all these outfits without anything from eShakti, but I have a feeling they will be making an appearance next week. Until then, Happy Shopping!
