What I Wore To Church - Touches of Leopard

Cardigan: ModCloth Charter School Cardigan in Sage
Scarf: Christmas present last year (similar, similar)
Shoes: B.O.C. (similar, similar)

I'm a believer that leopard is a neutral. It's a semi-controversial topic in the fashion world but that's where I stand. It can be paired with almost anything if done right, and it brings a level of interesting detail to any outfit. I thought it complemented the embroidery on this dress quite well.

I got the dress in eShakti's summer sale (which I find funny since part of the name of it is "FALL floral") and almost sent it back. It fit fine, but I wasn't sure if it was enough of a statement piece. I have so many dresses, so I'm always looking for dresses that pop. I seriously almost sent it back without even trying it on, but my mom convinced me to at least put it on and I'm glad I did. Not only is the embroidery beautiful, but it was a lot of fun to style. Also, it had been awhile since I'd worn an eShakti dress, and I forgot how awesome they were because POCKETS! Machine washable is also a plus when it comes to dresses.

Is that the same awesome sage cardigan that I wore in my Thursday post? Why yes it is. I almost feel like I'm starting an outfit chain. Boots carried over from Sunday to Thursday. Cardigan carried over from Thursday to Sunday. Maybe on Thursday I'll wear the scarf or flats again. We shall see.

eShakti is doing their Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal again so it's worth a second of your time to pop over and check it out. I have a feeling my mom and I may be pooling our resources to get a couple dresses.

Everyday Style - Polka Dot Blouse, Sage Cardigan, and Boots

Top: ThredUp (J. Crew)
Cardigan: ModCloth Charter School Cardigan in Sage
Pants: H&M Slim-Fit Pant
Boots: JustFab Landry
Necklace: Chewbeads

Boot weather is here (at least for a few days in Texas) and I'm so excited. Yes, these are the same boots that I wore on Sunday but that's because they are awesome.

The blouse was one of my first purchases from ThredUp. I forgot about it for awhile until I decided to go on the hunt for a black-on-white polka dot blouse. Shortly after starting my hunt, I remembered I already had one! It's a great staple piece and can be styled so many ways. I definitely think we'll be seeing it again in the near future.

I really think this color may be my favorite Charter School Cardigan. It's a close one between this one and the honey. It's just such a great, rich color and one that you don't see very often.

The necklace is a mom essential. It was a gift from my great friend Shawn. She knows me so well. It's a rubberized material made specifically for teething babies to chew on, and it looks fantastic too! I love it so much that I bought a similar one in a different color recently. Whoever came up with the idea is a GENIUS!

Hopefully the weather stays as pretty as it's been for awhile. Cardigans and boots are my favorites! This combination of styling is one that will probably pop up on the blog often. Hopefully the weather is cooperating with you too!

What I Wore To Church - My Fashion Truth

Top: Pink Rose Stripe Roll Sleeve Henley
Skirt: ModCloth Breathtaking Tiger Lilies Skirt in Orange
Scarf: H&M Tube Scarf in Woven Fabric
Shoes: ShoeDazzle Omaira (no longer available)

ModCloth has a campaign going on that I absolutely love. It's called #FashionTruth. They say to "be what you want to see in fashion", and to show off your fashion truth. So I'd like to share mine.

I'd always loved shopping and clothes, but fashion and blogging has been so much more to me than I expected. I was going through a really rough time about a year and a half ago. I lost a baby at 23 weeks, and I was just devastated. It was a very traumatic experience for me, and I spent a month and a half doing nothing but grieving. I rarely left the house, and I was lucky if I got into more than yoga pants every day. I was looking for something to get me out of that slump, and my sister encouraged me to get into blogging. I chose fashion blogging because I got to showcase my styling abilities (that have come a long way since then), but I didn't have to get personal. It was a great distraction and a creative outlet.

Pretty quickly I figured out I absolutely LOVED it. It gave me reason to get out of my yoga pants and start to feel beautiful again. I gained back my confidence, and I started taking better care of myself. I don't blog a ton, but I've been realistic about how much I'm capable of doing so I didn't let myself down. I've blogged at least once a week, almost every week since then. I still look forward to putting my outfits together each week, and even though my blog doesn't get a ton of hits, it's important to me.

So my #FashionTruth is that fashion and blogging pulled me out of a rut and helped me get back to me. I'm not always on the forefront of fashion, and my outfits aren't always edgy or hip, but I love doing it. Fashion blogging helps me feel confident and beautiful.

What I Wore to Church: Bird Print Dress and Boots

Bird Print DressDress: Old Navy
Cardigan: JustFab
Boots: ShoeDazzle Halle

You might have noticed it's Monday, not Sunday, but as I was in Florida all weekend, I hope you'll forgive my tardiness. This outfit was great for travelling. It was comfy, cute, and weather appropriate for fall in Florida. None of the items in my outfit are actually available any more, but similar items can be found. I will never get over how cute animal print clothing is (meaning a print containing animals, not like leopard or zebra, although those can be cute too in small doses). It may not be in style for much longer, but I plan on wearing it as long as I want because it's adorable. This outfit is also another great example of mixing brown with black, which I absolutely love. You can see my other post about that here.

Since I was in Florida visiting my sister, I would be doing a disservice if I didn't feature her outfit. She looked super adorable on Sunday in her brand new eShakti dress!

Crystal WIWTCDress: eShakti Pleated Cotton Knit Dress
Shoes: JustFab Bogota

She finally took advantage of my referral code and got this super cute dress for only $15 including shipping from the overstock section! I'm serious when I say you can always get their stuff for a steal. And doesn't it look fantastic on her?

She normally would wear heels or wedges with the dress, but since she teaches a class of 4 year olds at church, flats were more practical. She borrowed these from my collection that I brought down for our Beauty Swap party. The orange on the flats went great with the green in the dress and the snake skin brought just the right amount of pizzazz without taking away from the awesomeness of the dress.

eShakti has 25% off their entire site that ends today. It's definitely worth a peek. Use referral code ELIZABETH92SP for $30 off your first purchase!

What I Wore To Church - Pairing Black With Brown

Who says you can't wear black and brown together? Throw those fashion rules out the window!

heart print
Skirt: eShakti Smocked Heart Print Crepe Skirt (currently on sale!)
Shirt: Express
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Eclair

I found this absolutely adorable heart print skirt at...you guessed it (and probably saw it above), eShakti!  I customized the length to "below knee length" so I had a little bit more flexibility with which part of my waist to wear it on. I absolutely love the smocking in the front. It's stretchy (!) so there's always that bit of breathing room when you need it. The material is so flowy and fluffy and fun! The super cute heart print pattern helps, too! (Can I use any more exclamation points to show you how much I love it?!) Did I mention pockets?

This outfit will work great when it gets cooler, too. I'll just add my mustard cardigan and boots or some non-sandal heels.

I talked about these shoes in a previous post but was so excited to find the perfect outfit to pair these crazy comfortable shoes with. They really pull together the black/brown pairing. eShakti has a BOGO 1/2 off sale going on (ending today) that works on their sale items so don't be shy! Check it out. Did I mention new customers get $30 off when they register? If you've missed my other eshakti posts, find out more about the company here. Happy Shopping!
